In spite of the dreary weather on St Patrick’s Day, 80 people turned out for a fantastic dinner held at the Light House Restaurant, Wimbledon.
Following a welcoming glass of Prosecco, Suzanne spoke movingly about the charity, after which the audience were treated to a couple of songs, accompanied by guitar and ukulele, from Hebe Bourne and Lucy Fox.
The 3 girls, Hebe, Celine and Philippa (going on the July Rafiki Project), spoke briefly about the purpose of the evening – to raise as much money as possible to fund more classrooms!
Thanks to Rupert Taylor’s persuasive auctioneering and the guests’ generosity, the auction raised £11,500. Whilst a delicious dinner was being served the girls sold plenty of raffle tickets and ‘buy a desk’ teddy bears. The final total exceeded £18,000. What a successful night!
