You will have heard of the terrible attacks that have taken place in a Nairobi shopping mall in the last week. The Footsteps trustees are following the state of affairs in Kenya and will continue to monitor the situation over the coming months. One of our Trustees is visiting Kenya in December and will assess the position on the ground and talk to the authorities.
Although armed foreign militants have never been reported in Kisumu which is the base for our Rafiki programme, we will follow the advice of the Foreign Office and other relevant agencies and endeavour to make sure that we can keep volunteers and parents of teenage volunteers fully informed of the situation closer to the time of the 2014 trip in July/August next year.
Our thoughts are with the families of all those affected by this dreadful act.
