Finishing 8 classrooms at Kanyalwal Primary School

March 2011

In 2010 Footsteps put £22,000 towards the finishing of 8 classrooms.  The classes were already there but without floors, doors or windows.  There was no plaster on the walls and no paint.

Classrooms without plaster rapidly deteriorate and so the work that we have done will ensure the classrooms get good use for at least another 20 years.

As with all of our projects, the educational standards have started to improve and the buildings themselves are of an unrivalled standard in the area.

Wenwa Primary School

February 2010

Footsteps built 5 new classrooms. In less than one year after completion of the project, Wenwa school rose from the bottom of the league to midway. It gained an extra full time teacher and enrolment at the school rose by 71%.   For the first time in 2010, the children did not have to travel to sit their exams at another primary school which had classrooms suitable for sitting exams.

Magunga Primary School

July 2009

Our story starts with Magunga Primary School.

It was here in 2004 that Footsteps was born.  First with a child sponsorship programme, then with volunteer visits and finally with money raised for building projects.

Footsteps and Rokeby School in New Malden built a nursery and then in 2011 we built an administration block.
